Always great food and good company, Been going there since I was a kid and the service is fast and food homemade. Keep it local and support hometown businesses.

They have the best oyster stew, also the breakfast is great,a good family restaurant. .

Excellent, friendly service. Food was served up fast. Prices are very cheap. The cucumber salad is fresh made and excellent! I got some to go also. The chicken was pre packaged and cooked here, however it was very tasty. The mashed potatoes were instant, not fresh. The chicken rice soup was fresh and homemade, it was excellent. Fresh brewed ice tea. We shared the banana cream pie. It was very good.

It was a great lunch experience in Lancaster County. We had the chicken and waffles as well as a hot beef sandwich. Both were excellent and would recommend.

I love the old fashion homey atmosphere. The food is good, prices low. One of our favorite places.

Oh yeah much better then that huge place around the corner herding you in. This is a nice small down restaurant with the belly filling breakfast for a low price and don't forget to try the grilled sticky bun.

It was ok. We went there after reading all the great reviews and to be honest - totally disappointed. The food is ok but not more and the service ... Well, ok too. They don't accept credit cards and I had to go to the ATM .... Well, we all got different things we like or dislike. Not my kind of Restaurant...

Great little place, and have been here enough times now to know that, while some dishes are good, others are sub par. The breaded haddock is thick and fried (or baked, hard to tell) to perfection. I'm told that it is indeed made on site and not frozen. The oyster stew, probably the priciest thing on the menu, and the hot roast beef sandwich with gravy and fries are a must to order. However, the so called chicken cutlet was shockingly disappointing--three little breaded frozen chicken pieces. Someone truly needs to educate the cook on what a chicken cutlet is!

Great little local joint near Shady Maple...if you are looking for good home cooking a good price then try this place out. Take cash though, they don't take credit cards.

Love Town Hall. Great Lancaster County comfort food at a great price. The decor has probably not changed since it opened, which is part of it's appeal. Great place to people watch. Also try to go on a month with an "r" in it so you can get their oyster sandwich. Cash Only so hit the ATM before you go!

Okay, let's be real. Town Hall Restaurant is a diner, and not a "finer diner" by any stretch. But that's okay, because it knows what it is and doesn't try to be what it's not. They're all about simple, honest, stick-to-your-ribs comfort food made with love and in large portions here. THR is my go-to Lancaster area joint and I don't see that changing any time soon, because I've been around the area, eaten a lot, and doubt anyone else can do it better. I have a feeling not much has changed since they first opened. The establishment has a retro throwback vibe that feels authentic and unintentional rather than kitschy. You'll feel as if you've stepped back into a 1970's luncheonette, which is oddly comforting. Ditto for their lack of frills. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with a menu of rotating daily specials. Despite doing simple best, you'll still find gems on their menu that are above average diner fare, like chicken and waffles, and I think one of their specialties is offal-based, which pays homage to Amish tradition. Not for me, but I admire their moxy. The macaroni and cheese, packed with flavor and multiple cheeses, tastes as if it was simmered in a crock pot for hours. Who knows? Maybe it was. Anything fried is inevitably delicious. I tend to go pretty carb and starch heavy when I visit, which I blame on my unwavering love for their mac and cheese, corn fritters, mashed potatoes with gravy, and chicken croquettes. Really, they had me at the word "croquettes," and theirs are scrumptious. Hot classic comfort entrees such as meatloaf, roast turkey, and ham have garnered great reviews from my dining companions. My sole complaint is their desserts, which are not made there. As far as I know, THR sources from Bird-in-hand Bakery like a lot of local places do. I find Bird-in-hand's baked goods are way too sweet for me and often taste artificial, as if some shortcuts were taken in the kitchen. THR would be doing themselves a favor if they baked in-house, because one of the expectations of a great dinner is great classic desserts. At least, for me. But that's my only problem with them, really. And after a plate of fried food and carbs, how badly do I need dessert? Come in as a stranger, leave as a friend, they say. I did, and I'll be back.

Does this restaurant serve good food? Absolutely. Is the atmosphere unique? I'd say so! Is the waitstaff courteous and kind? Surely. This is a small town gem, a wonderful little restaurant on the side of the road, with great homestyle meals to satisfy your appetite and your heart. However, if you are sensitive to noise like I am, be prepared to be somewhat uncomfortable. The cook's area is out in the same room as you, and there is a loud fan noise coming from the overhead fan on top of the grill. I would come back for the food and the good service, however I may just bring earmuffs to eat in peace.

This really is the best local diner around these days. I've only been here for breakfast but I always enjoy myself. If I'm alone, I'll sit at the counter and invariably end up in a conversation that leaves me with a smile on my face. Breakfast is cheap and serviceable but I personally avoid the creamed chipped beef (#10 can style) and sausage gravy (way too tangy, not enough sausage) - which is a shame, because they're favorites when done right. They only take cash but their hours are pretty good. It's decorated like my parents' basement in the early 80's but hey, it feels like home.

Out of desperation on a holiday weekend trip with our cranky, hungry toddler, we found this place. We tried 2 separate and well-known buffet-type Amish restaurants in the area, and the waits were utterly insane. A nearby place that rhymes with Lady Paple probably had several hundred people milling around the lobby, waiting. Not a recipe for a happy kid. We checked Yelp while walking back to the car, and THANK GOODNESS. Town Hall's great reviews convinced us to try it out, and it was such a pleasure. From the attentive, sweet staff; speedy service; comfort food menu; and great, fresh, tasty food, it was a winner all the way. And no wait! It's definitely more of a local joint, which everyone knows, is a good sign in a touristy region like this. It's a nicely unpretentious family restaurant without any of the weird Amish fakery of so many area restaurants. It is kid-friendly without being unpleasantly so for those without kids. My husband had chicken and waffles, which he loved, with sides of mashed potatoes and corn fritters. I had fried chicken with applesauce and corn fritters. As they don't have a formal children's menu, but encouraged patrons to pick out something that sounded good, and they'd make a child-sized portion (with lower pricing) -- which I LOVED as a parent! -- we ordered macaroni & cheese for our kiddo. Everything was delicious, with all of us agreeing that the chicken and the corn fritters were the standouts in our meals. The mac & cheese was really tasty too, though not a super traditional prep. For desert, we tried shoo-fly pie, which my husband felt was very good (not a fan of any shoo-fly pie myself), and I had cherry crumb pie, on recommendation of the waitress (who was just great) -- a great finish to our meal. The total for 3 people eating dinner, plus drinks and desert was just barely $30. What a super value for excellent food, and without all the drama of the Lancaster County tourist traps! Fantastic place, we'll definitely be back when we are back in the area this summer! Note: they do only accept cash, so be sure to stop at an ATM beforehand.

This is an honest, simple American diner. It's not some place trying to do a retro vibe, it's just the real thing. The decor is wood paneling and old pics on the wall but it's clean and welcoming. Quality, simple food at great prices served by friendly folks. Leave the buffets to those looking to stuff themselves silly, go here instead and relax and have a solid meal.

We just left Town Hall....how can I say this.....it was quite possibly the very best lunch we have had in literally years. This coming from people who drive 2-3 hours for lunch on a Saturday! My husband had the beef vegetable soup grilled ham and cheese. I had eggs and olive salad and a side of cucumber slaw. By far, the best food, best service and down home feel we ever had. GO THERE!!

Great little country place. No frills breakfast that is filling and cheap.

fantastic breakfast - baked oatmeal, grilled stickies... it just doesn't get much better than this. Great prices, fantastic service - I'll drive out of my way to come back and try lunch sometime.

Ate there today! Not much from the outside but cute and old fashioned inside. Very cozy and welcoming. Staff was super nice! Food was good too! Will definitely go again, I want to try their breakfast next.

I'm so glad I checked Yelp to find a restaurant when we went to Amish country. Town Hall Restaurant was delicious. Everything we got was unbelievably good from the very tender roast beef to mashed potatoes and corn fritters. The prices are very reasonable. It is definitely more of a locals only place but don't let that stop you. The waitress we had was awesome and she even told us about some other places to try while we were in the area. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, i would.

We stopped here based on other reviews, our party of 3 adults were all disappointed! Too much salt ruined the chicken fricasse, suspect from my face turning beet red that they also used lots of MSG. The meatloaf tasted like sawdust :( and the mashed potatoes came from a box! Eek! The steamed cod and the asparagus were fine. The apple dumpling was a disaster. Will not be stopping here again.

The food is delicious. Great breakfasts & we had a party of 5, including a child. The sausage was unbelievable & the scrapple was delicious & cooked right! The prices were great. We'll be back sometime to try dinner!

This may be my favorite local restaurant of all time! Every time I come home I try to make to this place. Check it out if you are visiting "amish country" and want to see an authentic restaurant and get a real feel for the area. The food is very good and very inexpensive. The waitresses are nice and the people in the restaurant are typically..... unique. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are great and you can finally get to see what real "Pennsylvania dutch" cuisine looks like. Don't be fooled by all the tourist stops and expensive buffets that serve "Amish food". Expect to pay about 7 or 8 dollars a person on dinner and about 4 or 5 for a big breakfast. You can't beat this place.
